Why I set up my own dog business

Updated: May 14

A Tail of Passion, Purpose, and Pawsome Connections

Have you ever wondered what inspired me to embark on the wild and wonderful journey of starting my own dog business? Well, let me share the story behind why I decided to turn my passion for pups into a thriving business.

1. Barking Up the Right Tree: Finding Fulfillment and Connection

Picture this: I was working from home, feeling like a lone wolf in the vast wilderness of the working world. The solitude was really starting to get to me, while my husband worked away and my work at the time felt unfulfilling and boring. I dreaded Sunday evenings because I knew I would be starting the whole cycle again the next day.

At the time, we had 3 dogs of our own, who I loved very much and were a great distraction. If you know anything about owning dogs, you'll know well the daily meet-ups and friendships that blossom while out walking your dog. I met so many lovely people and pups.

Then, 2 new furry rays of sunshine entered my life – Kayla & Jaxsom. I started taking them for walks, caring for them when their humans were at work or on holiday. Before I knew it, I was surrounded by a pack of furry friends who brought joy and companionship into my life. Those dog-human interactions became the highlight of my day, filling my heart with warmth and purpose.

2. From Lonely Hearts Club to Furry Family: Finding Community in Canine Connections

As I immersed myself in the world of dog walking and daycare and home boarding, I realised that I wasn't just building a business – I was building a community. From fellow dog lovers in my neighbourhood to clients who entrusted me with their beloved pets, I found a sense of belonging and camaraderie that I had been missing in my solo endeavors.

Every tail wag, every slobbery kiss, and every grateful smile from a satisfied client reaffirmed my decision to follow my passion and create a business centered around what I love most – dogs! And let me tell you, there's nothing quite like the bond forged between a dog and their human – it's pure magic.

3. Paving the Path to Paw-some Adventures: Pursuing Passion and Entrepreneurship

Starting my own dog business wasn't just about escaping the loneliness of working from home or finding fulfillment in my work – it was about pursuing my passion with purpose. I wanted to create a space where dogs could feel safe and relaxed, where their humans could trust they were in good hands, and where I could wake up every morning excited to embark on new adventures with my furry companions.

And so, armed with a heart full of love for dogs and a desire to make a difference in their lives, I took the leap and never looked back. Sure, there were challenges along the way – chewed-up leashes, muddy paw prints on freshly cleaned floors, and the occasional squirrel chase – but every hurdle was worth it for the joy and fulfillment that running my own dog business brings me every single day.

So, if you're thinking about starting your own dog business, let me be the first to encourage you to chase your dreams with all the enthusiasm of a puppy chasing its tail!

With passion, purpose, and a whole lot of puppy love, you can turn your love for dogs into a thriving business that brings joy and fulfillment into your life and the lives of others.
